Design Statement: No Preconceived Expectations
Of Myth and Mud was on our season of new works. The characters and their stories are connected by Pandora. It’s very exciting to be one of the first designers to design a play; there are no costumes that have to be designed a specific way. Many of the characters were mythological- a dragon, a mermaid, a unicorn, a selkie and Pandora. The colors and silhouettes of the costumes helped identify each character and their role in the play; some taking up most of the stage with their costume (Dahlia, the Dragon) and others looking sleeker (Cecilia, the Selkie).
